About the Book:

Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt is an inspiring and emotionally resonant middle-grade novel centered on Ally Nickerson, a bright young girl who conceals her inability to read behind clever classroom distractions. Having moved from school to school, Ally lives with the quiet fear of being judged, struggling to keep her secret safe while convinced that her difficulties are a reflection of her intelligence.

Everything begins to change when a supportive substitute teacher, Mr. Daniels, recognizes Ally's hidden artistic and creative talents rather than her behavioral outbursts. With patience and targeted guidance, he helps her discover that she has undiagnosed dyslexia, opening up a transformative path toward self-acceptance, literacy, and genuine confidence.

Heartwarming and deeply empathetic, Fish in a Tree explores powerful themes of friendship, individuality, and neurodiversity. Lynda Mullaly Hunt's New York Times bestseller serves as a moving testament to the idea that everyone learns differently, offering a valuable message for readers of all ages.
